Cold Weather
The Pacific Northwest (PNW) is known by it's residents for it's unpredictable and harsh weather conditions. To help prepare for the upcoming PNW winter, here are a few steps to follow.
1. To help prevent pipes from freezing and bursting during the cold, winter months:
- Keep the premises at least at sixty (60) degrees Fahrenheit to avoid freezing water.
- Leave all closet and cupboard doors open - to allow the heat to reach the pipes.
- Set all water faucets to drip.
2. Watch your steps:
- When stepping outside, be careful where you step.
- Wear proper footwear that provides traction.
- Be on the lookout for ice when walking - watch for potential patches of ice.
- Black ice, which is an icy glaze that forms when moisture freezes.
- Be sure to give yourself extra time to get where you are going so that you do not have to rush.
- Plan ahead - check the weather forecast and prepare for the week.
